The best way to describe how hypnosis feels is to think about when you’re watching TV, feeling cozy and relaxed, and someone asks you to go to the kitchen to get something, you herd it, but you just don’t feel like moving. That calm, comfortable feeling is very similar to what hypnosis feels like.
Hypnosis is a state where your mind is more open to helpful suggestions. It doesn’t have one special feeling on its own. You will feel whatever I guide you to feel—usually calm, safe, and very relaxed, almost like being in a mental spa.
You are not asleep. Your mind stays awake and aware. You can hear everything I say, and you will remember our session just like a normal conversation.
You can still talk, open your eyes, move your body, ask questions, laugh, cry Nothing about hypnosis takes away your control.
Your mind may wander or have little thoughts in the background—that’s completely normal.
There is no single “right” way to feel in hypnosis. Most people say it is pleasant, relaxing, and surprisingly powerful.
Even though movies make it look like hypnosis takes away your control, the truth is the opposite. Hypnosis actually helps you take back control of the things that feel hard to manage—like habits, feelings, reactions, and old patterns.
